If
Razzies (awards for worst movies in Hollywood) come
to India, by any chance, Karan Razdan will be deluged
by the trophies in a short span of time. First 'Hawas'
and now 'Girlfriend', with the movies like these on
his resume, nobody on the jury would dare to ignore
this ex-hubby of late Priya Tendulkar.
During
his transition form a scriptwriter to a filmmaker, Karan
spent at least three years at home and just a casual
look at his latest film is good enough to prove that
an idle mind is indeed a Devil's workshop.
For
the Devil worshiper's, here is the plot, while the rest
of you can leave from here.
The
film offers you the characters you'll seldom see. Tanya
(Isha Koppikar) and Sapna (Amrita Arora) are CLOSE friends.
Despite living in a luxurious beach house, they just
have one bed to sleep on. Why? Hmmmm.... perhaps one
of them is always busy fondling the sisters-in-arm and
seldom sleeps.
Right
Karan?
Yeah..
Yeah.. you guessed it right, she is a lesbian but according
to Karan lesbians can't be normal. They have to kick
some men butts before they go to bed. That's what insomniac
Tanya does. She is kick-boxer. Her message is clear,
all you men stay away from love of my life.
But
Rahul (Aashish Chowdhary) is an oddball. He manages
to woo 'sleepy' Sapna, only to face Tanya's
wrath. No wonder, we see him frowning every now and
then.
What
could be said about Sapna. She is generally afraid of
men, may get drunk and sleeps with another woman but
she doesn't know a thing. According to her, "Jab
main soti hoon, main behosh hoti hoon."
Shhooo
innocent.
Tiff
starts as the romance blooms. Tanya wants her lion's
share but Rahul baba is reluctant. Now even Sapna knows
the truth. Oh Gawd.... What to do?
If
you're still looking for some excitement better watch
'Khwahish' again. However drab, Mallika's kisses are
far better than this 'While-You-Were-Sleeping' fondling
by sultry sister. The songs are jarring and so is everything
else.
The
only good things about the 'Girlfriend' is that despite
being replete with lesbian undertones, it will hardly
call for an ire from the moral brigade. Why? Because
it simply affirms their assumption- Homosexuals are
psychopathic freaks!!!
With
'Girlfriend' Karan beats the competition by miles to
become the uncrowned king of sleaze with no immediate
threat to his glory. After all, it's going to take a
lot of time before Kaizad gets out of Jail and pose
some serious challenge.
