The troubles surrounding heist caper Boom went from bad worse last week when pirate copies of the film started to appear on the streets of the major cities in India.
With copies of the film being circulated for 60 rupees (less than a pound) the distributors are now reluctant to pay the initial asking price for the film. With 18 cuts being ordered on the cinematic release by the Indian censor board the distributors are convinced uncut pirated copies will affect the box office takings of Boom. The producers of the film reacted quickly by raiding areas that were selling copies of the film. Many experts in the industry feel the damage has been done with pirated copies still freely available. So far the mega-hyped film has been dogged with delays, going over budget and legal action from some of the cast who had not been paid. Boom stars Amitabh Bachhan, Jackie Shroff, Gulshan Grover, Katrina Kaif, Padma Laxmi and Madhu Sapre. It will hit cinemas on September 19.
